Get Your Sheriff’s Card Easy 

Working in Las Vegas as an adult entertainer comes with some strings attached. And one of the most important strings is the MUST HAVE “Sheriff’s Card.” 

What is a “Sheriff’s Card”? 

It is basically a license to work on a premise in the State of Nevada where there is gaming or liquor service.

Now there are basically 3 cards you ought to be aware of: TAM Card (Alcohol Awareness Card), Sheriff’s Card (Work Card), Food Handler’s Card (Health Card). Your employer will know which one(s) you need. 

How do I get my “Sheriff’s Card”?

Typically, your future employer will give you an application for it. They do this because they have to sign the form.

Go in person to the Las Vegas Metro Police Station at 400 South Martin Luther King Boulevard, Building C, Las Vegas, Nevada 89106. You must appear in person. This particular station is located just south and almost next door to Costco right there on Martin Luther King Boulevard, just south of I-95 and immediately west of the Spaghetti Bowl. 

It is open 7 days a week and on holidays. Mondays through Fridays 7am-6pm. Weekends and holidays 8am-5pm. It gets busy! Lots of different occupations and trades have to go there to get authorization. So do concealed weapon permit applicants. For quicker service, get there early in the morning. If you hit a peak time, expect to be there 4 hours or longer.

Now here’s some important stuff to know before you go

They are going to take your fingerprints and if you have excessively long nails, they might require cutting. Just saying.

You will be asked to present two valid forms of ID. Those may include

  • Valid driver’s license
  • Certified birth certificate
  • U.S. Passport
  • Social security card
  • Military ID
  • Certificate of naturalization
  • An INS Authorization to Work permit

All IDs must be original. No photocopies are allowed. No pictures on cell phones are accepted.

Expect to shell out some cash. Each aspect costs money. The card costs $58. Fingerprinting is $35. If your position requires a full FBI background check, add another $98.

You may pay with 

  • Widely accepted credit card
  • Debit card
  • Cash
  • Cashier’s check made out to “Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department”
  • Money order made out to “Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department”

Notice that personal checks are NOT ACCEPTED.

Issuance of the card signifies that the holder has been investigated and found clear and clean. People with a Sheriff’s Card have no outstanding warrants, no extensive criminal history, no revoked work status with the state’s Gaming Commission,

The sheriff’s card is good for five years and must be renewed afterward.
